CATHOLICS AND NON CATHOLICS HAVE SOMETIMES MISUNDERSTOOD HOW THE CHURCH SEES THE ROLE OF MARY IN THE WORK OF REDEMPTION. IT IS NOT BY NECESSACITY BUT BY DIVINE CHOICE THAT GOD ALLOWS ANY HUMAN BEING TO PARTICIPATE iN SALVATION HISTORY. WHILE UPHOLDING THE UNIQUE AND SINGULAR ROLE OF CHRIST AS MEDIATOR BETWEEN GOD AND HUMAN(because JESUS is both human and divine himself) Holy Mary is one major example. God freely choose the corporation of Mary to accomplish His divine plan. VIRGIN MARY WAS TOTALLY HUMAN WHILE HER SON WAS TRUE GOD AND TRUE MAN(not a hybrid 50/50- half God/half man- but one divine person with a full human nature and a full divine nature)

St John Paul 2 And Mother Mary

Pope John paul 2, like most other popes, took a moto as well as a new name when He was elected bishop of Rome by cardinals, in 1978 after the untimely death of JP1,one month after his election. JP2 Motto was" totus tuus", which is latin for "TOTALLY YOURS". It is based on spirituality of St Louis de Montfort, a 17 century french priest, who promoted a strong devotion to the VIRGIN MARY. Part of that spirituality focussed on being"TOTALLY YOURS"- that is being totally committed to following the holy example of MARY, the mother of JESUS, especially in Her humility and her obedient disciple ship to that same son of hers. JP2 wrote a papal en cyclical in 1987(Redemptoris Mater) on VIRGIN MARY as mother of the redeemer(JESUS CHRIST) and Her Role in Salvation.

BLESSED IS SHE WHO BELIEVED(LK 1:45) 58. In the parable of sower, Saint Luke has left us these words of the Lord about the "good soil": "These are the ones who when they hear the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart,and bear fruit with patient endurance"(LK 8:15). In the context of Luke's Gospel, this mention on an honest and good heart which hears and keeps the word is an implicit portrayal of the faith of the Virgin Mary. The evangelist himself speaks of Mary's memory, how she treasured in her heart all that she had heard and seen, so that the word can bear fruit in her life. The mother of the Lord is perfect icon of faith; as Saint Elizabeth say:"Blessed is she who believed"(LK1:45) In Mary, the daughter of Zion, is fulfilled the long history of faith of the Old Testament, with its account of so many faithful women, beginning with Sarah: women who, alongside the patriarchs, were these in whom God's promise was fulfilled and new life flowered. In the fullness of time, God's word were spoken to Mary and she received that word into her heart, her entire being, so that in her womb it would take flesh and be born as light for humanity. Saint Justin Martyr, in his dialogue with Trypho, uses a striking expression; he tells us that Mary receiving the message of angel, conceived faith demonstrated its fullness; when our own spiritual lives bear fruit we become filled with joy, which is the clearest sign of faith, following in the footsteps of her son. In her the faith journey of the Old Testament was thus taken up into the following of Christ, transformed by him and entering into gaze of the incarnate son of God.
